When I woke up at 6:00 a.m., this morning, the temperature outside would’ve felt like a brutal minus 18 degrees Fahrenheit if, that is, I’d been out. It was the effect of the polar vortex. I stepped out an hour later, by which time the mercury had climbed up, but by a very little. During the day, I stayed indoors. I looked out at the sky once and found it to be pure blue, without a dollop of cloud.

Yes, both grits and polenta are made from ground corn, but while polenta is made from yellow corn, grits are, typically, made from white corn (or hominy.)
We drove to Starbucks for coffee and banana bread and then onto Mavis Tire Discount to have the tires inflated.

Paccheri (pronounced: pakkeri) is something new pasta I’ve discovered. Large short tubes, which trace their origin to the Campania region of Italy, it makes a lovely slapping sound when eaten.

After a little over three months of consuming cereals, we had oats for breakfast.
Snack. Pita, stuffed with egg, feta, scallions and roasted red bell pepper tapenade.

Fruit of the Day. Sapphire grapes. This is the most unusually shaped grape I ever had. It’s a tubular grape, about two inches long and very sweet.
